There are so many great books about space that we have really grown to love. Do you have a favorite space book?
There’s No Place Like Space: All About Our Solar System (Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library) is a fun rhyming books about space. It also has the Cat in the Hat series. This is fun to see how you go from place to place in the book.
The Magic School Bus Lost In The Solar System is a great book. This is fun to look over all the information and they fly to save their teacher. Plus you get to see facts and information about every planet. There is a detailed chart about the planets in the back. You can also see how much you weigh at each planet!
The Planets by Gail Gibbons is a great book. This one has been updated since it came up for the updates to Pluto and other facts we have learned about space. Each planet has facts and information to learn about them. There are great vocabulary words as well.
Galaxies, Galaxies! is another great book about space. This one teaches you all about galaxies and the history of discovering them. This is a great book to read about the how big space really is. We did a Easy Galaxy Oil Pastel Painting activity with this book.
How Many Planets Circle the Sun?: And Other Questions about Our Solar System (Good Question!) is another great book with facts about the planets. This one came out in 2014 and has some of the most up to date information on the planets. It has a detailed chart at the back about each of the planets.
Mousetronaut: Based on a (Partially) True Story (Paula Wiseman Books) and Mousetronaut Goes to Mars (Paula Wiseman Books) are two favorite to read at our house. The first book is based on a partial true story about mice and space and the second books is just continuing on with following our favorite mouse into space again. Both are fun to read and see information about going to space and just what going to Mars might be like.
Touch the Brightest Star is a fun interactive book about the stars and the moon. It is fun to read and see the different things in the sky. Plus you have some learning about constellations.
Stars! Stars! Stars! is a great book about kids going to learn about stars. There is information plus activity ideas in the book. You can learn about galaxies, planets, constellations and more.
Midnight on the Moon (Magic Tree House, No. 8) and Space (Magic Tree House Research Guide) are great for for older kids. I like that she has the stories and the fact books to go with them. The fact books have lots of information on space and is told in ways that kids just love.
