Hearts are always a great theme for Valentines. We love having different activities around them. We have made loads of wreath during the different seasons. They are always fun to make. We enjoy changing up the decorations and I love having stuff my girls have made.
Plus who says wreaths just have to be at Christmas time. You can have a wreath at any time of the year.
A few years ago we made a fun Valentines theme washi tape wreath and it was loads of fun to have. Since then we have made loads of different wreaths and had fun with it!
We love using oil pastels to do crafts. They are fun to blend and see how different each blend and color can be. And I just love how they turn out.
This new wreath is a great addition to the collection of Valentines Printables & Activities on 3 Dinosaurs.
What you need for this craft
- Crayola Oil Pastels, Assorted Neon Colors
- pink or purple dot marker
- paper plate
- white cardstock
- 2.5 inch heart punch & 1.5 inch heart punch
How we made this craft
We took the paper plates and dotted them with dot markers. We were all going to use pink but my youngest decided she wanted purple. This is what I love about these crafts there is no wrong way to do them. After we finish we put them aside to dry. Dot markers dry really fast. Which is why we use them over paints.
I always have samples of the shape we are using so that we can see how far we need to color on the paper.
Next, we had loads of fun blending colors. We use the new Crayola Oil Pastels, Assorted Neon Colors. I love the bright colors. We picked two or more colors for each heart. We rubbed the oil pastels on cardstock. We made sure to over lap some of the colors.
After you have the color done you punch out the hearts. You can do one at a time or all at the same time. We like to do one at a time.
Finally, place the hearts around on the plate and then glue them in place. This is fun to see how we all have our own ideas of how this is done.
