February 2016 Book Finds

I love looking for books and so do my girls. We have a fun time looking for new books every month! A lot of the books we pick out come from the library. WE make it to the library at least twice a week sometimes we make it more. I have a good relationship with our librarians. It is wonderful and I know their routine for new books. They always have them on top of the where the books are shelved. I love going through the books and seeing what we would love to read. A few times they will hand me the books to see what we might like.

I find looking and reading new books fun and a challenge but we always look forward to them! And how here are this months book finds

February 2016 Book Finds: ABCs,pets, animals, gardens, rhyming, owls, poems - 3Dinosaurs.com

ABC Dream was a great find for us as we have been doign the last of the ABCs this year. It is a wonderful wordless ABC book that we have just loved. Each book has the letter and pictures of that letter around the page. It has been one that we just love. The pictures stand out on each page.

If I Had a Gryphon is about Sam who gets this ordinary pet hamster. She thinks about how great it would be to have all these wonder imaginary pets like a drago, unicorn and more. I love the creativity of the book and that in the end that the hamster is okay.

What This Story Needs Is a Hush and a Shush (A Pig in a Wig Book) is the second book in a series and we loved this one as well. You can read about the first one here. I loved that this one was lots of animals sounds. My girls had so much fun reading this book. My oldest and middle work on their reading outloud skills to my youngest with a lot of the picture books we get and this is a fun one to do it with.

The Night Gardener is a story that I just fell in love with. My youngest picked this one out for the owl on the cover. It is about a story trees that are turned into wonderful topiaries. It brings a gray little twon to life. I love the pictures and the creative. This is a fist book for the authors. I can’t wait to see what their next book will be.

Otto the Owl Who Loved Poetry is a fun book about a owl who does not fit in with other owls. He likes poems and doing his own thing. He starts making his own poems and friends. I love the simple poems in the book and the wonderful picture and emotions that this owl has.
