We have had a blast with the different ten frame addition cards. I wanted to add a few more of these.
I also love how you can work from ten frame counting mats to addition or subtraction. I also love the changing of themes. It is football season and for those sports-loving kids here are some free football ten frame addition cards and worksheet.
It is a fun way to change up math!
What wait I’m sure you are saying you just made pencil ones not to long ago. Yes, I did. One thing I have learned is that some kids learn better with different themes.
I like that I can take a counting ten frame mat and then see how those work towards addition.
There are two types of cards. One of the cards has just the equations without the ten frame filled in. The second one has part of the equation filled in on the ten frames. This gives you a card to work with different levels of learning. You can use these with different level of learners.
The cards are nice because you can change up how you used them. Plus you can use the football theme all year long for the sports fans. Or they also work nicely during the Superbowl.
The first type of card has the pencils filled out for part of the equation. We filled out the second part of the equation with unifix cubes. I used blue to match the one of the football colors around here. You could use the colors that work best for the teams where you live.
The second type of card has the equation and nothing in the ten frame. This allows kids to build the equation on the ten frame. We use the unifix cubes again to fill in the equation. You could also use glass gems or any other hands-on item.
If you have the card laminated kids can write the answer and color on the cards with dry erase markers.
If you only want to use the cards one time you can. We often do this at the end of the use of our cards if we have not laminated them. We use dot markers on them.
I know that not everyone loves using the cards and having the parts to use with them. I have also made a worksheet that can be used with the cards. Each of the cards has numbers 1 to 12 on them that match up to the worksheet. It makes it a great math center activity. I like to give them two different markers to use with the pages.
