All things space is one of our favorite things to learn and study about. The moon has always been a favorite for us. It is something you can study all year long and have fun with.
We just love using washi tape for crafts! We have been learning loads of stuff about the moon and I thought I would share this fun fine motor washi tape moon!
We love to have a book tie in with our crafts. Yes, my girls are older but we still do this. It helps them remember the book and why we are doing the craft. We read the book: The Moon Book by Gail Gibbons
What you need for this activity:
- white paper
with a circle traced on it.
- black glitter cardstock
- gray washi tape
(We had several different sets)
- glue sticks
- white sharpie paint marker

How we Made the Washi Tape Moons
We took white paper and started to put washi tape on it. Everyone had their own ideas. What is what makes these crafts fun. There is no right or wrong way to make it! We had straight lights, mixed up everywhere and anything we could things of that would be fun.

After we had covered the whole circle we cut out them out. You could still see the pencil line through a lot of the washi tape.

After we finished the cutting we put glue on the back of the moon. You want a lot to make sure it sticks to the black glitter cardstock. One we did lots of glue stick and others we just used glue.

After we placed our moon on the black glitter cardstock we used a white sharpie paint marker
to make stars around the moon.

One fun way to change up this activity would be to do the different phases of the moon!
Here is a look at our washi tape moons.
