Winter always gets colder and I can tell you that we go outside but sometimes we like to stay inside and get our wiggles out!
Today I have a great story tie-in for a gross motor activity with the Gingerbread Man, the free Gingerbread Man Story gross motor dice!
This is one of our favorite stories and has been forever that way! We read it every read a Christmas time!
This is part of the 5 Days of Gingerbread Themed Printables.
I love changing up the gross motor. It is always fun to do. Kids really do enjoy working on different activities. We have had a blast with all the gross motor book and dice activities. Every year we do something to help keep us moving.
This new dice set is a favorite story for my girls and I. We have done movements and my girls asked for a dice set. They love the dice and pull them out a lot to do.
The set has 6 elements from the Gingerbread Man Story: the gingerbread man, the oven, the old woman, the old man, a cow, and a fox. Simple parts that work well into a lot of the stories.
We use the cube dice because they allow us to throw the dice around and they don’t hurt much when they fall or hit something. Plus the cards last a lot longer in the dice.
The Gingerbread Man Story Gross Motor Movements
The great part about having this be a story set is that you can do it with or without the dice. You can do the movements while you read the book. Which we will do a lot of! Have some fun and read and move.
Gingerbread man: You run as fast as you can like the gingerbread man.
Old Woman/Mixing: You mix up the gingerbread dough with big stirring motions.
Oven: You jump from the oven. We do two feet jumps and leaps for this sometimes.
Old Man: You run like an old man. You can do slow running movements. Or even pretend running with a cane. We liked running with a cane.
Cow: You run while crawling and moo like a cow.
Fox: You swim like a fox. We laid on the floor and pretended to doggy paddle. They can even pretend to gobble the gingerbread man.
After you are sure of the movements you can change up the dice a bit. You can add speed & directions and how many times they do the movement. You can get the number dice here.
Now if you hate the idea of the dice and messing with that just print the card and shuffle through the 6 movements. It is simple and easy to do. My girls just love the cube dice because it lets them throw the dice around and have fun with them! Do what works best for your kids or students.
