June 2014 Book Finds

Each month we look book finds at the library or the store. We always have fun with this. It is something fun to do and we love it. This month is a combination of library and store finds. Don’t be afraid to ask at the store or the library what new books have come in. It is fun to see what they got in. It will also tell you about the kinds of books that your librarians are picking out.

As you look over the book see what books you might have pass up that you find out your kids might like. I always do what my oldest calls a page walk through the books to see the text, pictures and and some of the content. This is a perfect way to see how they will like the book.

Journey is fun wordless book that you can look at for hours. We love to just sit with this book and talk about the pictures. This is a fun book to do writing projects about. You can write about what you think she will do with her red crayon.

A Funny Little Bird is a fun story about a book who is almost invisible who has to learn what is good about being him and not someone else. We loved the art work of the book. It is very creative how to see the bird who is almost not there. It is also a story about making friends and learning what makes you unique.

If I Had a Raptor is a book about a girl who wants to raise a raptor and what she do while raising it. I love this book. One it is a dinosaur book and two it is creative how it puts in a raptors natural instincts and humor in a book together.

Help! We Need a Title! is another great book by Herve Tullet. My girls love several of his books. We read them over and over. This book was fun to have because you see some of the creative process of making a book. It is done in fun ways as well.

Pete the Cat: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star and Pete the Cat: A Pet for Pete (My First I Can Read) are the two new Pete the Cat books. I like the new additions of the books that they are putting out.

Pete the Cat: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star is a fun classic song now in a book! I love all the verse that it has in the book.

Pete the Cat: A Pet for Pete (My First I Can Read) is another of the early reader books. This one is Guided Reading Level F. It is great for a child ending Kindergarten or starting First Grade.

My New Friend Is So Fun! (An Elephant and Piggie Book) is a fun book. I like who each book covers themes that some times are hard in a fun way. Piggie and Batty are new friends and they are having fun. Their old friends see them having fun and get upset or maybe even a little jealous, but things are not always what they seem. I like how everything is covered and still have fun reading the book over and over.

What book above do you think you would like to read?
