One of my favorite themes about Earth day is remembering that we are trying to take care of the Earth and how important it is.
We love reusing things and I’m always looking to see how we can use something again. Paper rolls are something we collect around the house a lot. Since we are cleaning out things I thought it would be fun to use a few of them to make a paper roll stamped earth!
My girls often have ideas of what they want to do. Several years ago we made paper roll flowers and we loved it. They wanted to do an Earth Day craft for our themed week. I had enough rolls to make the flowers again but they wanted to try and make it an Earth with them.
We read the book Recycle!: A Handbook for Kids by Gail Gibbons. I love her books. We talked about reusing things in the house. We talked about how we reused the paper rolls for this painting project.
What you need for the activity:
I put the rolls together and pressed some rolls to put inside the rolls to add more stamping area.
The first part they did was put paint on their paper plates and then mixed it around with the paper rolls. They each got to choose how much and where the paint would go.
Then they got busy stamping the paper all over. This made several different types of stamps on the page.
After they got done with their stamping they wanted to finger paint in all the circles to match what they stamped. I love that they had the ideas of what they wanted to do.
