Paul Revere’s Ride and 2 If By Sea Lanterns
After a recent trip to the Minute Man National Historic Park we read the book Paul Revere’s Ride by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Ted Rand
After we finished talking about the book we made lanterns to hang in the window. What you need: wax paper, brown, yellow, & white construction paper, yellow and orange tissue paper, and glue.
Rose and Amelia covered the plastic wrap with glue.
The girls put on the yellow and orange tissue paper.
They glued on the candle in the center of the picture.
They glued on all four side of the lantern.
They put the top on the lantern.
The finishing touch was adding the flame on the candle.
We hung the finished product in the window.

We had so much fun. I can’t wait to get my post up for the visit to the Minuteman National Historic Park. It was a great learning experience for them.
Great craft! We am adding it to our Five In A Row activity list for Paul Revere’s Ride next year. So much fun that your girls got to see lanterns in person before reading the book.
We really did enjoy the trip! And it was a great time right before the 4th of July to do it.
Love your lantern craft! I memorized that poem in 4th grade, but don’t remember much of it anymore.
It was lots of fun to do. The girls enjoyed it. Seeing what the real ones looked like helped as well. 🙂

It was fun! They loved it. They did point out that we learned he did not make it. We have since read a few other books about it as well.
