We have been LOVING the gross motor dice. Even more, now that it is cold and snowy outside and we are always looking for a way to keep moving.
With a week of space printables, my girls asked for a new gross motor dice. They love changing these up as much as they can. The dice gets them moving and helps settle them after a busy day at school. They often have tons of wiggles that they need to get out and the dice help them do just that.
Our space gross motor dice is a part of our 7 days of Space Printables.
The space gross motor dice have two different sets of dice to play with. My girls just love the cube dice because they can switch out the cards.
Each dice set has their own fun gross motor activities, but with the cube dice you can mix them up! The cube dice have the movement on them and the folding dice just have the name.
Besides the movement dice, there is a speed die. This allows kids to change up how they do the movement. There are three speeds: slow, normal and fast.
I do find that the cube dice last longer with my girls than the folding one. They just love to throw the dice around.
Space Gross Motor Dice Movements
Here is a look at all 12 movements. I always review the movements first before we do the dice. This allows them and me to make sure we know what they are doing.
Galaxy: You are going to put your arms out and spin around in place.
Alien: You make up your own silly walk to do around the room.
Floating Astronaut: You lay on your stomach with your legs and arms spread out and then lift up your arms and legs off the floor. Once they are off the floor you hold them up.
Rocket: You start crouched down on the floor and jump up into the air blasting off like a rocket into space.
Asteroid: You get on your back with your knees tucked up in and roll around like you are an asteroid in space.
Shooting Star: You leap across the room like a star going through the sky.
Sun: You walk in a circle around the sun like you are a planet.
On the Moon: You walk like you are bouncing around on the moon while you walk.
Flying Saucer: You run around a quick and silly as you can, zooming through the sky.
Comet: You lay on the floor on your tummy and put your arms and legs together in a straight line. Then you lift them up in the air like you were pretending to fly.
Saturn: You wiggle your hips to keep your pretend space rings in place.
Crescent Moon: You do a rocking chair motion while on your back.
We are always changing up how we do the activities. My girls love adding the extra dice for how many times to do a movement or how long to hold a movement. You can find the number dice here.
After you have it all down how you use the dice is up to you and your kids or class. My girls love to do the three dice together but at times will just do the movement dice. You can use any combination of the dice you want. That is what makes these so fun. Plus you can always mix up the movements with the 12 option with the cube dice. You could mix in another other gross motor dice set as well!
Since we have 12 options I printed it on speckled cardstock, laminated it and put it on a ring as well. This allows us to flip through the movements.
