Easy reader books are fun because kids can have their own book for them to read and color. It gets them excited when they can have a new book.
I love it because they soon build up their own library of books that are theirs.
Today I have a fun free easy reader book about pets. Something that I’m sure that kids will just love.
This printable is apart of My Pets Week.
You are going to find two different pages in the book. The first page asks “What is my pet?” That page is great for working on questions and the sight words what and my.
The second page tells you what kind of pet they have. There is a picture of just that pet. It tells them the name of the pet.
How we use this easy reader book
One each of the pages you can use the sight word my as what you are working on. You can underline it as they read the book. I love giving them that focus on a word. You could also do the second word of what. I like “my” because it is on both pages.
You can focus on the animals in the book. Each of the animals matches up to the pet counters. So as you read about the book you move the pet counter over until you have read all the animals in the book.
The last page has space for kids to write about their pet. If they don’t have a pet they could write about a pet they want. I think this has become one of my favorite pages because it makes the book theirs.
