Girls Dinosaur Party!

Rose just turned 7 and we had a Dinosaur Birthday Party! Rose has loved dinosaurs for a long time now. When people with boys who were invited asked if we were having a “princess party” I said no very easy. This was a party that boy would enjoy as much as girls would!

The decorations were nice and easy to do. I used the Melissa & Doug Textured Stencils – Dinosaurs and traced the outside edge of the dinosaur in different colors and then cut them out. I laminated them to use them multiple uses. We cut green construction paper to make grass under the dinosaur feet. I made big and small dinosaur foot prints and two different types. Streamers and balloons were hung around the ceiling.

You can see we had a wide range of activities that we did. Here is how I have them lined up to go.

Stickers and Stamping
What we used: dinosaur foam stickers, dinosaur stamps, stamp pad, colored pencils, crayons and paper.

For a warm up while waiting for everyone to get to the party we did some dinosaur stickers, stamps and colored. It was easy to do and everyone enjoyed doing it while waiting for other people to arrive.

Making Tracks in Clay
What we used: various dinosaurs, paper plate and Crayola Air Dry Clay,.

We talked about dinosaur remains and that we have found some dinosaur footprints. We talked about the difference in the different types of footprints around the room and looked at the dinosaur feet. Everyone made sure the clay was flat on the plate and then picked out dinosaurs and made foot prints in the clay. They each use multiple types of dinosaurs.

Getting a Dinosaur Name and Meaning
What you need: Photo Stacking Blocks, beginning & ending dinosaur names, and certificate.

We talked about dinosaur names and how each name means something. That “don” means tooth and is often at the end of a name and “mega” means huge and is found at the beginning of a name. We read off all the different names types and what they meant on the dice.

Each child got to roll the Dice and see what name they got and were presented with a certificate with their name and meaning on it.

Dot the Stegosaurus Plates and Tail
What you need: dot marker, blind fold and stegosaurs dot marker page.

This is a twist on put the tail on the donkey. The kids were blind folded spun around and then given a dot marker color of their choose and pointed towards the paper. Then they tried to get the dots. It was great fun for everyone. Even when waiting they had fun! It was a laugh to see how close they could get. Everyone had a fun time with this.

Digging for Dinosaur Bones
What we used: Dinosaur dig kits. This is a very dirty activity and lots of fun though. Everyone enjoys digging through the blocks and getting dinosaurs bones out. If I were to pick the type of dinosaur digging that I like the best it would be the Educational Insights. It is easier to dig in and makes it move much faster.

Dinosaur Brownies
What I used: Nordic Ware Pro Cast Dinosaur Cakelette Pan.

The girls love dinosaur brownies. I don’t use cake in them and it goes over great with the party! Everyone loves it!

Over all the party was a huge success. I say that because everyone was happy and everyone was engaged during the time! Rose had a great time with her friends! Total time for the party was about 2 hours.
