Traveling Word Wall

During the summer a lot of traveling happens. It is hard to take all your materials from home with you. One way that I’m helping my girls keep their learning going is to make them personal word walls! This way we can take them with us.

My example here I’m using the Build Up Summer learning Week 4 Farm Second Grade Extras. These word walls are easy to make and fun for the kids to use. These are also nice for when you don’t have space for a huge word wall.

What you need: folder, scissors, pages and tape.

I print them off 6 pages per sheet. Make sure the page order is on vertical and orientation is portrait.

I cut out each of the pages and paste or glue them on the folder. I often reuse folders so that don’t waste them. I always put sight words at the top and word families below them. I love the summer program with the word family sorting. This is not hard to do.

After you are done these folders make it easy to stand them up and use them for their own personal learning. After you are done they fold up and are easy to store.

  1. What a great idea! I’m doing something similar with those tri-folds they use for science fairs so I don’t have to have wall space at home for our word walls. Love the idea of having one that can travel with you!

  2. What a great idea! I love that this is portable (perfect for “car schooling”), but also think it’s awesome for those who don’t have a lot of wall space to use as part of their day-to-day homeschool. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
