We Celebrating Two Holidays & Books for Them

We celebrate two holidays: Christmas and Hanukkah. It has become something fun to look forward to! The girls love having both! It has not always been easy to balance it all out, but something fun no matter what. Here are two books that cover this subject: My Two Holidays: A Hanukkah and Christmas Story and Daddy Christmas and Hanukkah Mama.

My Two Holidays: A Hanukkah and Christmas

My Two Holidays: A Hanukkah and Christmas Story is a great book for when a child is confused about telling people what they celebrate. It cover the issue of what to say. Rose had an issue with this last year and this book helped her understand it is really great to celebrate two holidays and not just one.

Daddy Christmas and Hanukkah Mama

Daddy Christmas and Hanukkah Mama is a new book this year! It talks about a family mixing up the two holidays together. This is a lot of what we do. You can see that I have Hanukkah stuff mixed in with the Christmas stuff. We even are that way with a lot of our crafts! It is fun to do different things. The girls love to play with the dreidels as soon as they come out!

With all of this we talk about that it is okay when not everyone celebrates a holiday that you do. Everyone can be different.

This is also why I have a Hanukkah Pack and Christmas Packs that range from religious to non-religious.

  1. These are two good book for interfaith families, for sure. I loved Daddy Christmas and Hanukkah Mama (though in our house the roles are reversed). I made a list of interfaith picture books last week, too. I’d love it if you would consider linking this up to our special holiday edition of the The Children’s Bookshelf, which went up on my blog yesterday, the linky is in need of some more Hanukkah-love.

  2. Thank you for sharing these wonderful books with me. I didn’t realize that there were books that explored both holidays!

I will be sharing this post on the Read.Explore.Learn. page tomorrow.

  3. It is always interesting to see what others do; we actually don’t celebrate either holiday! I am a little surprised that you found books to help! That’s great!
