For this pirate theme, we have been doing the Build Up Summer Learning Week 1 Pirate<\/a>. We have loved doing pirates this summer and loved several of the books. Pirates are a theme I think do well for boys and girls.<\/p>\n

Book We Read with the Chalk Pirate Flag Craft<\/h2>\n

We had a hard time picking a book this month. There were so many to choose from. What the girls ended up picking for the book was Pirates (Magic Tree House Research Guide, paper)<\/a>. Yes, we read the nonfiction book for the series. It was lots of fun. The part they liked best was the flags. We talked about how pirates did not live a good life and things were not all glorious.<\/p>\n

Chalk Pirate Flag Craft<\/h2>\n

The part they picked from the book was about how the flags differed when they said there was just one pirate flag. We decided we would make pirate flags.<\/p>\n
