I’ve been excited about this one for the last month. The girls picked the book Corn Is Maize: The Gift of the Indians (Let’s-Read-and-Find-Out Science 2)<\/a>\"\" for this months author Aliki. This is a great fall book as well. We loved learning about different parts of history for corn.<\/p>\n

While on vacation this summer we read Corn Is Maize: The Gift of the Indians (Let’s-Read-and-Find-Out Science 2)<\/a>\"\". They learned about corn in so many different ways.<\/p>\n

One of the first things to know is that the girls had a chance to plant some corn and look at the corn seeds. This was a great experience for them. They saw how you plant and how it grows in different stages.<\/p>\n

We got some hands on playing with corn while at the Freemont Indian State Park. They saw the different colors.<\/p>\n

They also learned about how the Freemont Indians ground their corn and got to try to see how good they would be at it.<\/p>\n

What you need: yellow and orange yarn cut into small pieces, glue, construction paper white and green.<\/p>\n

The first step is to take the white cut out and put glue on it. You want to make sure you cover the whole paper with glue.<\/p>\n

\"Corn<\/a>\n<\/div>\n

Then you cover the whole white area with yarn. You pile lots into it to make sure you cover it.<\/p>\n

After the while is all covered press down on the yarn to make sure it is sticking to the paper. Then tilt the paper up so the extra yarn falls off. After you tilt the paper press down on the yarn again to make sure it is on firmly.<\/p>\n

Put glue on the bottom of the corn for gluing on the green pieces of paper. Then put the green paper on the bottom of the corn. You can leave as much or little of the corn showing as you want.<\/p>\n
