You have a pattern of adding or counting.<\/p>\n So if you skip counting by 2s, you have a pattern like, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and so forth. These patterns can be repeated for many numbers.<\/p>\n The most often numbers used are 2 through 12. And that is what these printables work on is numbers 2 through 12 skip counting.<\/p>\n Skip counting is a great way to build up to learning multiplication. It is often hard to see how it would work for the older kids. Skip counting math skills is something we are always working on.<\/p>\n These skip counting tiles are to help with the skill of learning skip counting. To make them last longer I suggest that you laminate them. I use the Scotch Thermal Laminator<\/a> The first time we use them I give the tiles to her and something to do hands on with it. I used some seasonal eraser for her.<\/p>\n She knows the pattern from skip counting paper and then she puts the tiles in order. After you have the skip counting tiles in order do some double checking to make sure they are right. If you find them in the wrong order do some simple adding by two to see if they are right. Example does 18 + 2 = 20 or 22. This is easy and simple. If they need help putting them in order you can use the Skip Counting Wall Cards<\/a><\/p>\n Because my daughter loves to have some hands on learning with it. We use erasers to give the skip counting something she can see as well. She lays out the erasers in patterns of 2 to match the cards. We do 2 + 2 = 4 and 4 + 2 = 6 until the end. I have her run through the skip counting tile cards a few times.<\/p>\n After she has it down I start removing tiles so she has to remember what was there. First time I remove 3 tiles and work up until there are more tiles missing.<\/p>\n After you have the numbers down have them skip counting so many times. I have them skip count by 3 four times. And repeat the pattern with different numbers. I have her place her hand where she finished skipping counting too. You work that 3 x 4 = 12 and so on.<\/p>\nWhat is Skip Counting?<\/h2>\n
