The Preprimer Sight Word Wall Cards are a great addition to the sight word printables<\/a> on the site.<\/p>\n Sight words are words that we teach beginner readers to know by heart. This is so that when they see it they know it. It can help speed reading along.<\/p>\n Simply put these are words that are found common in reading. Some examples of sight words are: you, and, can, go, here, and come. They might not be easy to decode or don\u2019t follow pattern simple sounding out patterns.<\/p>\n There are many different lists that you can get for sight words. Some of these sight word lists are Dolch Sight Word lists and Fry Sight Word Lists.<\/p>\n These sight word wall cards are set up to sort the Dolch Preprimer sight words by letter. Each of the letters that there is a word for there is a card. It has 20 wall cards, So you will find all the Dolch Preprimer words that start with “A” on the same wall card.<\/p>\n This was done to help learn some of the ABCs as we learn the sight words.<\/p>\n Below are the sight words that are on each letter wall card. You can see that there are just a few sight words on each cards to make it easy to see and learn the words without being overwhelmed with lots of words.<\/p>\n Letter A Sight Words: a, and, away<\/p>\n Letter B Sight Words: big, blue<\/p>\n Letter C Sight Words: can, come<\/p>\n Letter D Sight Words: down<\/p>\n Letter F Sight Words: find, for, funny<\/p>\n Letter G Sight Words: go<\/p>\n Letter H Sight Words: help, here<\/p>\n Letter I Sight Words: I, in, is, it<\/p>\n Letter J Sight Words: jump<\/p>\n Letter L Sight Words: little, look<\/p>\n Letter M Sight Words: make, me, my<\/p>\n Letter N Sight Words: not<\/p>\n Letter O Sight Words: one<\/p>\n Letter P Sight Words: play<\/p>\n Letter R Sight Words: red, run<\/p>\n Letter S Sight Words: said, see<\/p>\n Letter T Sight Words: the, three, to, two<\/p>\n Letter U Sight Words: up<\/p>\n Letter W Sight Words: we, where<\/p>\n Letter Y Sight Words: yellow, you<\/p>\n You are going to see a few ways to use these sight word wall cards. And these are just a few suggestions. They can be displayed or used in other ways that you can see below.<\/p>\n You can take the sight word wall cards and put them in alphabetical order on the wall. You can have them as an easy to display and see the sight words by the beginning letter of each word. We print the sight word wall cards on color cardstock and then laminated them. This allows us to use them over and over.<\/p>\n You can use a 3 hole punch and make a book out the sight word wall cards. You can see we printed the sight word wall cards on colored cardstock and then laminated them. <\/p>\n You then use a 3 hole punch<\/a> to make the holes on the cards and then use rings<\/a> to keep the wall cards together. This makes a super simple book for kids to flip through. This makes a great way to keep the sight words together for a learning center.<\/p>\n These are the steps that I have done to make a small folding book that kids can have on their own for the sight words.<\/p>\n I start off by printing the wall cards on copy paper. You want to print all the wall cards for the book.<\/p>\n I take the paper and fold them in half. You want the text part on the outside of the fold.<\/p>\n After I have the pages folded, I staple the book on the left hand side of the pages. You can see the fold is on the right side of the book.<\/p>\n After you have the book stapled, you can open it up and look at the sight words in the book.<\/p>\n You can have kids flip through the book version of the sight word wall cards and say the sight words on each wall card.<\/p>\n If you have older kids, you might want to challenge them by saying a sight word and having them find the word in the book.<\/p>\n You can also pair the wall cards up with matching preprimer worksheets<\/a>. You have just color the sight word or color by letter sight word for kids. You also have a teacher print for the bookmarks as well.
