We have been working on CVCe words at our house. This printable is another of the learning to read helps that we have loved over the last few years. These are easy to use and fun. There are now several different ladders you can use when learning to read. I always work on these after the CVCe Word Family Wall Cards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What are CVCE words?<\/h2>\n

CVCE words are work that has the silent e at the end. I have also heard them called \u201cmagic e words\u201d. They are Consonant Vowel Consonant E words.<\/p>\n

So that you will find words like mine or hike are CVCe words. The e at the end of the words makes the vowel in the CVCe words a long vowel sound.<\/p>\n

These can be tricky to learn but are great for kids to know the trick about the words.<\/p>\n

CVCE Word Family Ladder Printables<\/h2>\n

Each page has two CVCe word families on it. This makes them the perfect size to use with letter tiles or lacing letters.<\/p>\n

I like that you can always print and use what you need with these CVCe ladders. I know that we work on certain word sets at different times. You will find several different CVCe word family endings. I tried to make several different word endings.<\/p>\n

You have the following CVCE word endings: -ace, -age, -ake, -ale, -ame, -ane, -ape, -ase, -ate, -ave, -ice, -ide, -ife, -ike, -ile, -ime, -ine, -ipe, -ise, -ite, -obe, -ode, -oke, -ole, -ome, -one, -ope, -ose, -ote, -ube, -ude, -ule, -une<\/p>\n

How To use the CVCe Word Family Ladder Printable<\/h2>\n

I give them the ladders, CVCe word family wall cards<\/a>, Bananagrams<\/a>. Then they can make the words they want. This is an easy activity to do. You can laminate<\/a> the ladders to make then last longer.<\/p>\n
