We loved making these torn paper fall trees. They are fun to make and everyone has a different idea just how their tree should look. Plus, you get a lot of great fine motor while you are working on the trees.<\/p>\n

One of our favorite fall books is Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf<\/a>. We just love this book. We read it every fall. We have done several activities with the book and we always enjoy it. Another activity we did was make a yarn tree<\/a>. This really is a fun book.<\/p>\n

What you need for this activity: glue<\/a>\"\" and several colors of construction paper<\/a>\"\".<\/p>\n

The first thing we did was tear up the paper. There are times we do this together or I do it in advance. This really is a lot of fun to do. I love doing these types of art projects at the start of the year to build up fine motor skills. I also find this a great time to talk and be silly as well.<\/p>\n

They each got to tear their own grass to glue at the bottom of the page. This was fun to see what shapes they came up with. Then we glued them on the bottom of the paper.<\/p>\n

Then we started building the tree. The first part they did was make the trunk of the tree. They all decided how big or small it should be.<\/p>\n

Finally, we worked on the leaves. They all have their own ideas of what it should be like. They would do a single leaf and then make different layers of leaves. They even had some fall. It is always interesting to see what size they wanted to start with and what they end with. Each creation is unique to them.<\/p>\n
