<\/div>\nThe Cotton Ball Wig Craft is a great addition to the American Revolution craft<\/a> on the site.<\/p>\n Presidents Day, observed on the third Monday in February (Feb. 16, 2026), is a federal holiday officially designated as Washington’s Birthday (Feb 22.) to honor the first U.S. president. And also for Abraham Lincoln’s (Feb. 12).<\/p>\n The Cotton Ball Wig Craft is a fun craft to make for Presidents Days for George Washington. You make a paper hat and the glue cotton balls around the hat.<\/p>\n We talked about George Washington and his powders wig that he wore while dong this craft.<\/p>\n A fun craft for kids in preschool (ages 3 to 4), prek (ages 4 to 5), and kindergarten (ages 5 to 6). If you purchase via the links we may earn a small commission<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n Presidents’ Day: A Patriotic Picture Book About a School Play Celebrating George Washington and Abraham Lincoln<\/a> is a fun book to learn about the day and two people who are apart of American History.<\/p>\n George Washington: The First President<\/a> is another great book that is an easy reader book for kids.<\/p>\n You could also read I am George Washington<\/a>. It is a fun and easy book to read about George Washington and is apart of a fun series of books.<\/p>\n You are going to see each of the steps we used to make the cotton ball wigs.<\/p>\n I used a measuring tape to see how big each of their heads were. Then use the measuring tape to measure out the paper need to make a paper hat for the cotton balls.<\/p>\n Then we cut out some lines on the paper. You want to only cut down two thirds of the way on the paper. You can have older kids cut the paper and you could cut the paper out for younger kids. <\/p>\n If you have older kids cut the paper, you can draw lines on the paper for them to cut.<\/p>\n The paper was placed around their head and taped. You can write on the inside of the paper to who hat it is.<\/p>\n The cut pieces were pulled to the center and taped down to make a small hat that covered their heads.<\/p>\n Hand towels were placed inside so they would hold their shape while the cotton balls were attached. You can use anything that would help the hat keeps its shape.<\/p>\n Glue was placed in a paint dish so they could dip the cotton balls in the glue and then place the cotton ball on the paper hat.<\/p>\n Not all kids will like the glue they get on their hands. If they only put on a few cotton balls that is okay. But this is fun much fun to see how the cotton ball wigs turn out.<\/p>\n Finally we added bows to the back of our cotton ball hat and was left to dry. If they added lots of cotton balls it may take a day or so to dry.<\/p>\n Presidents Days Weekly Packs<\/a> has 6 grade levels of printables with George Washington and Abraham Lincoln themes in the pack for kids.<\/p>\n Making Penny Rubbings<\/a> is a great President days activity. It is a good way to look at the soldiers and the different types of positions they had.<\/p>\n American Revolutionary War Easy Reader Book<\/a> is a cute little book for learning names and working on simple sight words.
