Puzzles have been a favorite at our house for ages! We are always using them for something. We have loved the CVC puzzles and how we have the CVCC puzzles.<\/p>\n

I love how puzzles are a word building activity for kids. They make spelling a hands-on activity for them. I use these a lot with the CVCC Word family Cards.<\/p>\n

Today we are starting with some of the CVCC word family short “a” puzzles.<\/p>\n

Each puzzle has four letters from the words and picture that matches the word. These are easy to use three piece puzzles. I recommend laminating<\/a>\"\" them if you are going to use the often. This will make the puzzles last longer.<\/p>\n

They are meant to be great for some easy hands-on learning of the words. I like to mix up how we use them, but often we just work on one word family ending at a time. We started with all the “-all” words and then did others.<\/p>\n

After we had done the puzzles, I often have them do an activity with matching the lowercase lacing letters<\/a>\"\" to the puzzle. You can place the letters right below the words. I like that the lowercase lacing letters<\/a>\"\"s match up to the lowercase letters on the puzzle.<\/p>\n

In the selling version, you get all 40 puzzles and some extras that you can use with the puzzles. I am going to show you a few of those extras that you can get.<\/p>\n

There is a building mat that is great for learning centers. This allows you to build and write the words. There are two types of mats to use. They come in black & white, blue, red, green and purple color. The black and white versions will allow you to print on any color of cardstock<\/a>\"\" you might like to use.<\/p>\n

The first mat just has the four section up top for you to build the puzzles with the letters attached.<\/p>\n

The second version allows you to cut the letters off and use them to build the word and the picture separately.<\/p>\n

The last extra is a writing page. This will allow the kids to write out the words that they build. There are 8 different spaces they can use to fill in.<\/p>\n
