Counting mats are something I used to always want with my girls. I could never find the right mat to go with the themed I was looking for.<\/p>\n

One of the popular themes year around is bugs. I thought making these bug counting mats would be a fun addition to the site.<\/p>\n

Plus they have playdough feature to them as well.<\/p>\n

The bug counting mat is a great addition to the bug printables<\/a> on the site. <\/p>\n

The counting mats are perfect for kids working on their numbers 1 to 10. They are straightforward and easy to set up and make a great math center for preschool and kindergarten. Each one has a ten frame which is a great way for kids to work on the start of math.<\/p>\n

Each of the counting mats has the number written out, a number for playdough, ten frames and flowers for the background. You can see how I set up each of the mats. I used playdough, In the Garden Critter Counters<\/a>\"\", and unifix cubes<\/a>\"\".<\/p>\n

I often laminate<\/a>\"\" the pages if we are going to use them often. But if I’m out of laminating sheets or only using one time, I’ll use a sheet protector<\/a>\"\" on the pages. I might also used the sheet protectors to store them in a 1 inch binder<\/a>. I just put all the pages in the sheet protectors back to back. <\/p>\n

You can see how we placed the unifix cubes<\/a>\"\" in the ten frames and the In the Garden Critter Counters<\/a>\"\" on the mat. We used the playdough to build the number. <\/p>\n

I love that these mats can be as flexible as you want them to be. You can be as creative with the hands-on part as you want. Plus you could just use the butterfly toob<\/a>\"\" and use this as a butterfly mat.<\/p>\n
