There are many ways to work on addition. I love to have themed activities for addition. Word problems are not always fun for kids. I know that one of my girls has always hated them But I do find that adding a theme helps them. <\/p>\n

Plus having something easy to just print and go is nice. The ocean themed addition word problems are just that simple and easy to use.<\/p>\n

I wanted something fun easy and quick to work on some of our math during the summer. These no-prep word problems are just the answer for this. I could print all three off and give them to my youngest to work on different days. Plus they are a nice addition to the rest of the ocean printables<\/a> on the site.<\/p>\n

Each of the pages has two addition word problems on them. This gives them space to draw or write out about the addition problem. <\/p>\n

We also use a lot of unifix cubes<\/a>\"\" to help solve these problems. It makes the math hands-on for those that need a hands-on activity.<\/p>\n

For each word problem, there is a number line to help if they need it. They can use it any way they like. We like to start at one number and count up to the next one.<\/p>\n
