This is a great craft for building fine motor skills. One of my girls does not like writing and has a hard time with it. So the pinching, pulling and pushing of the model magic helps with this.<\/p>\n
We read a few snowman books before we started out craft. First, we read out favorite that I think we have memorized: There Was a Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow!<\/a>. And second we read Snowmen at Night<\/a>. We love both of these books!<\/p>\n You start with the foam balls and putting the while model magic on them. We pull off pieces and press it onto the foam ball. It can take a little effort and pushing it around to get it on the ball. You make sure to cover the whole ball. You repeat this with all three sizes of the balls.<\/p>\n Once you have the ball covered we roll the ball on the table to help even out the model magic. You repeat this as above.<\/p>\n After all the balls are cover we stacked them up. You can put a little extra white model magic in the middle of the balls to help them stay together better. Or you can add extra afterward.<\/p>\n One the bottom of the snowman we place extra model magic to help it stand up better. You can shape it so it does not stand out as much or just leave it. It is up to you how you want to do it.<\/p>\n We then put on the face. We rolled up little balls of black and then put them on the face. We each decided how we would arrange our small dots. We also put small dots down for buttons on the body.<\/p>\n We made a cute carrot nose out of the model magic and the use sticks for the arms.<\/p>\n We used some of the organe to make a scarf for the snowman. They made long tubes of orange and cut it to match how long they wanted the scarf to be.<\/p>\n The last thing we did was use more black and make some top hats.
