The Planet Prewriting Printable is a great addition to the space printables and prewriting printables on the site.

I remember the first time I heard the word pre-writing in school. My first thought was writing a paper or starting a paper.

But for young kids, pre-writing is the skill to build to work up to writing letters and other types of writing. It also teaches the direction that we read.

You can start a lot of those skills with fine motor activities with playdough and other small motor movements. But a lot of those skills are working up to prewriting with lines. Then working on more fine motor skills that help to do better with writing and reading later in life.

You start out with thick prewriting lines and work to thinner prewriting lines. Then to prewriting patterns that work into writing letters.

Each of the planets has different lines on them for kids to trace. They are only on the planet and it is a fun way to change up prewriting.

There is one type of line on each of the planets. They can work on one type of line with each planet.

I am going to show you a few ways we have used these prewriting printables.

I love to use markers to make patterns on the lines. We often did just every other line. It is a different way to do them. I love the different markers that you can use. We have been using the Crayola Fine Line Markers.

If you want to reuse the pages then use items to place on the lines. We happened to have some rockets erasers that I got a Target at some time. They are a great way to do fine motor work. You can see how fun it makes the prewriting.

We often use sheet protectors to reuse pages. We have had some prewriting and coloring pages in them for years. They got used over and over.

These are simple and fun and no-prep pages that are great for prewriting for kids who love space.

If you are looking for me space themed prewriting pages check out the Space Activities Set! It has several more prewriting line options, plus tracing strips and an easy reader book all with the space theme!

A fun collection of Valentine’s and heart activities that work get together for kids to learn this winter.
