We love the book And Then It’s Spring<\/a>. It has been a favorite for years. I love how the book shoes things that are dead and how they start to grow underground before we see them up top.<\/p>\n I think we read this book more and more each spring. It is still fun to look at the pictures. I love doing an activity with the book.<\/p>\n I cut the textured foam into squares this time. You can always trace shapes on the foam and cut them out.<\/p>\n We always start off with drawing the spring tree outline. This gives us an idea of where we went the tree to be and how big.<\/p>\n We colored in the tree using oil pastels. I love when we mix different types of crafts together. We color the trunk and sometimes we color in a little around the tree for branches.<\/p>\n Next, we start painting the top of the tree. This part is loads of fun to do because you have so many different textures and colors to work with.<\/p>\n I always suggest spring colors but they can always do it their own way. You start by painting the square. You want to make sure you color the whole square if you want or not. Be careful when you are painting the square because you can splatter paint a little bit on the paper and you.<\/p>\n You press the square onto the paper. You carefully lift the square off the paper and see the pattern on the paper. It is fun to see this all come together.<\/p>\n After you are done with that square you wash it off in a bowl. We kept paper towels close by to dry if we need it.<\/p>\n Then you keep going. We did mixes of spring pink colors and a little green mixed in as well.<\/p>\n The final step we did was to put grass at the bottom of the tree.<\/p>\nWhat you need for this painting activity<\/h2>\n
