One of our favorite night sky books is A Child’s Introduction to the Night Sky: The Story of the Stars, Planets, and Constellations<\/a>. It has fun information about the sky. Plus a little history mixed in as well.<\/p>\n I use the punches and cardstock to make stencils we could use. We use the star and a circle for this. I made several of each so that if one broke it would not be an issue to grab another one.<\/p>\n We took the stencils and decided where the moon would go first. We used gray and white to color the moon. You put the stencil on the paper and then use the oil pastels to fill in the area.<\/p>\n Then we took the smaller star stencil and started to fill the sky with stars. We had a bright yellow and light yellow oil pastels we used for that.<\/p>\n My girls also decide they would use some blending and make a shooting star in the sky. They made the star then use their finger to blend the yellow colors for the tail.<\/p>\n Finally, we painted the dark sky around our moon and stars.
