(Read and Wonder)<\/a>. I love the story of the girl looking and watching the ducks. It has loads of different types of ducks mentioned in the book. It is a great book to read with this painting activity.<\/p>\n These are all the items we used to make this items we used to make this duck painting.<\/p>\n There are two parts to making the duck painting. You have the background and then painting the duck. You can make this as simple or complicated as you want. You can see what we did and some suggestions for changes for different ages as well.<\/p>\n You can use watercolors for the background. You paint the pond. You start with the pond water since it can be the biggest part of the painting. We use big brushes on the watercolor paper to make the painting go faster.<\/p>\n Then you paint the area around the pond. It can be all green bushes and cattails or just green with some sky. This is a flexible pond painting which makes it fun to paint.<\/p>\n For younger kids, you could have them use construction paper for the water and land.<\/p>\n You place the duck cookie cutter where you want it on the pond. You want to make sure you are holding the duck cookie cutter firmly with your fingers.<\/p>\n You then use a q-tip with yellow paint to paint inside the duck cookie cutter. You can use orange for the duck beak. <\/p>\n After you lift off the duck cookie cutter you can see how fun the duck looks on the pond.<\/p>\n Then you use black paint to make the duck’s eye. It only takes one dot with the q-tip to make the duck’s eye.<\/p>\n After you finish painting one duck you can paint the next duck!<\/p>\n If you have younger kids you can always trace the duck cookie cutter and cut out the duck.
