A great way to work on place value is by learning about expanded numbers and how they make a standard number.<\/p>\n

What is Place Value?<\/h2>\n

The dictionary says that place value is the numerical value that a digit has by virtue of its position in a number.<\/p>\n

That sounds really complicated but it is not. Each number digit has a value based on where it is. So if I have the number 24. Then the 2 is in the tens place and the 4 is in the ones place. It is super easy once you understand what each place value is.<\/p>\n

There are several terms used in place value: standard, value, expanded, and picture.<\/p>\n

Take the same number above standard is 24.<\/p>\n

Expanded would be 20+4.<\/p>\n

The value would be 2 tens, 4 ones.<\/p>\n

Rain Themed Place Value Number Card Prinatables<\/h3>\n

You have two sets of cards number cards to use with this place value activity. Each set has 9 cards to use. In each set of the 9 cards, each place value uses each number only one time. If you plan on using these a lot I recommend printing on cardstock<\/a> and laminating<\/a> them.<\/p>\n

The two sets of place value number cards let you use them with kids at different stages of learning.<\/p>\n

Raindrop Place Value Expanded Form Numbers Prinatables<\/h3>\n

You have the expanded form of all the numbers 1 through 9 for hundreds, tens, and ones. Each number has its own raindrop. These work best printed on cardstock<\/a> and laminate<\/a> because they will get a lot of use.<\/p>\n
