The Sight Word Pencil Tracing Cards are a great addition to the sight word printables<\/a> and school printables<\/a> on the site.<\/p>\n This is part of my subscriber library. You will find it in the school or sight word section on the subscriber freebie page. <\/p>\n Sight words are words that we teach beginner readers to know by heart. This is so that when they see it they know it. It can help speed reading along.<\/p>\n Simply put, these are words that are found common in reading. Some examples are: like, and, can, go here, and come. They might not be easy to decode or don\u2019t follow simple sounding out patterns.<\/p>\n You have a set of tracing cards that are on a colored pencil. You can find all 220 sight words in color. You have four sight word cards on each page.<\/p>\n The second set of tracing cards is a black and white version of the color. This allows you to print them on colored cardstock or save on ink with printing.<\/p>\n Each of the sight word lists has a different set of sight words.<\/p>\n 40 pre-primer sight words: a, and, away, big, blue, can, come, down, find, for, funny, go, help, here, I, in, is, it, jump, little, look, make, me, my, not, one, play, red, run, said, see, the, three, to, two, up, we, where, yellow, you.<\/p>\n 52 primer sight words: all, am, are, at, ate, be, black, brown, but, came, did, do, eat, four, get, good, have, he, into, like, must, new, no, now, on, our, out, please, pretty, ran, ride, saw, say, she, so, soon, that, there, they, this, too, under, want, was, well, went, what, white, who, will, with, yes<\/p>\n 41 first grade sight words: after, again, an, any, ask, as, by, could, every, fly, from, give, going, had, has, her, him, his, how, just, know, let, live, may, of, old, once, open, over, put, round, some, stop, take, thank, them, then, think, walk, were, when.<\/p>\n 46 second grade sight words: always, around, because, been, before, best, both, buy, call, cold, does, don’t, fast, first, five, found, gave, goes, green, its, made, many, off, of, pull, read, right, sing, sit. sleep. tell, their, these, those, upon, us, use, wash, which, why, wish, work, would, write, your.<\/p>\n 41 third grade sight words: about, better, bring, carry, clean, cut, done, draw, drink, eight, fall, far, full, got, grow, hold, hot, hurt, if, keep, kind, laugh, light, long, much, myself. never, only, own, pick, seven, shall, show, six, small, start, ten, today, together, try, warm.<\/p>\n We have included links to some of the products and resources we have used with this activity. You can have loads of fun using these sight word cards.<\/p>\n If you plan on using the cards a lot, I recommend that you print the pencil sight word cards on cardstock<\/a> and laminate<\/a> them. This will help you be able to reuse the sight word cards.<\/p>\n Don’t forget you can print the same cards in a black and white version. Then use their favorite color or the season color for the cardstock.<\/p>\n Then laminate<\/a> and get ready to use them over and over.<\/p>\n You can have some fun and print each sight word list in a different color. That way, you know which list each child is working on.<\/p>\n Store the sight word cards on the ring and use them for a learning center. You make sure you have the cards laminated and add a dry erease marker with them.<\/p>\n You can use just the Sight words you are working on. You could add new words each week or keep the same words.<\/p>\n Don’t forget you can do with with the black and white pencil sight word tracing cards. <\/p>\n You can use yellow, red, and orange in the fall; blue, purple, and white in the winter; purple, pink, and green in the spring; and yellow, blue, and green in the summer.<\/p>\n After you have the sight word cards laminated and cut out, you can use them with a dry erase marker and use them repeatedly. They are super fun for kids to use. Plus just wipe off and trace again!<\/p>\n If you don’t want to trace the sight words on cards or do any laminating, you can put all the cards in sheet protectors<\/a> in a binder<\/a>. Then just trace the words on the page.<\/p>\n You can make a fun center and print the pencils on white cardstock and have kids trace the sight words with their favorite color.
