The Snowman Diphthong Game Printable is a great addition to the diphthong printables<\/a> and winter printables<\/a> on the site.<\/p>\n The Snowman Diphthong Game Printable is part of my subscriber library. You can subscribe to the newsletter<\/a> and get access to the password there. You will find it in the diphthong section on the subscriber freebie page. <\/p>\n A diphthong is a sound formed by combining two vowels in a single syllable. The sound begins as one vowel sound and moves towards another. Diphthong comes from the Greek language meaning two voices or two sounds.<\/p>\n These are words like boy, coin, cloud, and cow<\/p>\n The common diphthongs are: au, aw, ew, oi, oo, ou, ow, oy.<\/p>\n Snowman Diphthong Game has the following diphthongs au, aw, ew, oi. You have snowmen for sorting, board game, and matching worksheet for the words.<\/p>\n You have a board game with several of the letters au, aw, ew, oi mixed up around the board game.<\/p>\n You have snowmen with hats that have the au, aw, ew, oi diphthong letters on them. You can see the four snowmen below.<\/p>\n You have five snowballs for each of the diphthongs. They have a picture of a word with a diphthong in them.<\/p>\n You have a writing page for kids to write the diphthong letters in each word. This is a great worksheet for writing the vowels with or without the game.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n We have included links to some of the products and resources we have used with this activity. You have the snowmen heads, the snowballs with the pictures of the diphthong words, the game board with the diphthong letters and a game piece. We used a mini eraser for a game piece but a unifix cube<\/a> would also work great.<\/p>\n You will see steps below on how to play the snowman game with the snowball, snowmen, and game board.<\/p>\n You start by turning over on of the snowball cards and then matching it to the correct snowman with the matching diphthong.<\/p>\n We pulled the cards with chew and matched to the EW snowman.<\/p>\n Then you find the matching diphthong letters on the game. You can see we found the first ew on the game.<\/p>\n You keep pulling diphthong cards, building the snowmen, and moving around the game. This is a fun way to match and have fun doing it.<\/p>\n You can see a finished game below. We did not use all the snowballs but you can sort them as you need.<\/p>\n You can see the snowman heads with the diphthong vowels, the snowballs, and the diphthong worksheet.<\/p>\n You pull the snowball and then write the diphthong letters on the matching picture on the worksheet. You can see we pulled laundry and wrote the au on the worksheet.<\/p>\n Then you match the snowball to the correct snowman. It is a fun way to build the snowman and fill out the worksheet.<\/p>\n As you pull the snowballs, you fill out the diphthong worksheet.
