What is a Sensory Bin?<\/h2>\n

A sensory bin is typically a plastic tub or container filled with carefully selected materials and objects to stimulate the senses of children in preschool.<\/p>\n

Sensory bins might have rice, water beads, corn, beans, or other types filled with small items.<\/p>\n

Who Can Use Sensory Bins?<\/h2>\n

Most often, sensory bins are used for kids in preschool and kindergarten. <\/p>\n

But older kids can use them a well. You can get a lot of sensory input in a sensory bin and older kids might also need that. <\/p>\n

My girls have used sensory bins from preschool into their teens. And remember teens might like different things but sensory bins are still great for sensory input.<\/p>\n

What Size of Sensory Bin is Best?<\/h2>\n

You can use any size bin that you want for the sensory bin. We used deep bins when my girls were younger and then used a smaller bin when they were older.<\/p>\n

The bigger bins we used were clear plastic storage bins<\/a>. These are nice because of the deep walls and lid to cover the bin when you are done using it.<\/p>\n

The smaller bin which we used the most was a paper bin<\/a>. Some of the paper bins have covers you can use to put on top of the bins.<\/p>\n

Are sensory bins really worth the mess?<\/a> I really do think that they are!<\/p>\n

And these are great for an at home preschool curriculum<\/a>.<\/p>\n
