Then you have a rainbow made from glitter torn paper. A great fine motor craft with tearing paper and fun painting the sky as well.<\/p>\n This is a great rainbow craft for kids in PreK (ages 4 to 5), kindergarten (ages 5 to 6) and First grade ( ages 6 to7). If you purchase via the links we may earn a small commission<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n Here are all the steps we used to make the torn paper glitter rainbow with watercolor sky.<\/p>\n Since we are using a watercolor painting sky for the rainbow, you want to paint the watercolor paper. <\/p>\n If have you have watercolor set with lots of blues you can mix them all up to make the blue you see for the sky. <\/p>\n If you only have one color of blue then adding more water makes it later and less water will make the sky darker.<\/p>\n Let kids decide how much they paint and how the sky will look.<\/p>\n After you finish painting the sky you put the it aside to dry.<\/p>\n You want to take the glitter paper<\/a> and tear it up into small pieces. Kids can do big pieces. They can decide what is small enough for the pieces.<\/p>\n I always keep the glitter paper from other crafts like punch crafts to use for torn paper crafts.<\/p>\n You can see all six colors of the glitter paper<\/a> torn up for kids to use.<\/p>\n While you tear up paper you watercolor painting should be drying.<\/p>\n Now you put glue on the painted sky. We have found that starting at the top of the paper makes a better rainbow than at the bottom. You want to make sure you have enough glue to have the paper stick.<\/p>\n You could use a glue stick for this but you will have to make sure the watercolor paper is 100% dry for it to work.<\/p>\n Kids can also have the glue in an arch from side to side or in an half arch. You can let them decide how they will do it.<\/p>\n Now you start placing the torn glitter paper on the line of glue. You can have the torn paper overlap a little. It will not help the rainbow at all.<\/p>\n And having it over lap create a fun effect as well.<\/p>\n After you have the first color done you start on the next color. You are going to apply the glue again right under the first color. You want to make sure you have enough space to do that row of color.<\/p>\n You can see how the next row of color looks when you are doing. The colors can overlap a little bit to make the rainbow.<\/p>\n Now you want to keep going with the rest of the colors. You repeat the steps from above for each color. <\/p>\n It is fun to see how the colors look as you complete them.<\/p>\n And you keep going until you finally have all six colors done.
