You have a pattern of adding or counting.<\/p>\n So if you skip counting by 4s, you have a pattern like, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20. 24 and so forth. This helps them last longer. I like to laminate them before cutting them out.<\/p>\n Then I cut out the puzzles. I know that people have different options about how to do this. So do what is best for you.<\/p>\n Another part of preparing the puzzles is the puzzle mat. This is a printable mat that you can use to help build the puzzles on. It has the space for the 10 pieces.<\/p>\n I like to laminate the mat and then put wall putty<\/a> on it. This gives something for the puzzles to stick on.<\/p>\n You will see a few ways we use the skip counting puzzles.<\/p>\n Below is a very simple set up for a skip counting puzzle. You have the 10 puzzle pieces, the puzzle building mat and the skip counting bookmarks<\/a>. <\/p>\n You don’t have to use the skip counting bookmarks they are just useful for kids who might not know the their skip counting by four.<\/p>\n You can start with the smallest number and start building the puzzle. After you finish making each of the puzzle you can work on repeating the skip counting on the puzzle.<\/p>\n You can skip count forward and backwards. Kids can point to the numbers and then say the numbers as they go up the numbers.<\/p>\n Another fun activity is that you can put a puzzle mixed up on the puzzle mat.
