<\/div>\nThe Beanstalk Fractions with Building Cards are a great addition to the fraction printables<\/a> on the site.<\/p>\n The Beanstalk Fractions with Building Cards is part of my subscriber library. You can subscribe to the newsletter<\/a> and get access to the password there. You will find it in the Nursery Rhyme, Fairy Tales & Folk Tale section on the subscriber freebie page. <\/p>\n It is a numerical quantity that is not a whole number. It is also a number divided into equal parts.<\/p>\n Examples of fractions are 1\/2 or half of a whole number.<\/p>\n You can see fractions like 1\/4, 1\/5, 1\/6, 1\/8, 1\/10. There are many different fractions that kids can work on.<\/p>\n Jack and the Beanstalk Fraction Puzzles with Building chards help kids build fractions of different sizes and give them cards to make the fractions.<\/p>\n Each of the beanstalk fraction puzzles is vertical. The puzzles have the fractions on the right side and the picture they make on the left. I laminate each of the puzzles. This makes the puzzles last longer. The fractions start the bottom of the beanstalk.<\/p>\n This is to help kids learn more about fractions with a similar picture.<\/p>\n You will find fractions for the following numbers: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 10.<\/p>\n The Fraction cards has fractions for each of the numbers expect for the whole number. This is a way to explore the different fractions for each number. You have a Jack to use with the fractions cards as well.<\/p>\n You have a fraction building mat for kids who need an area to build the fraction. Each of the fraction puzzles fit in this mat.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n We have included links to some of the products and resources we have used with this activity. You can use the ones that works best for your kids.<\/p>\n You can start by preparing the fraction puzzles. You can print them on cardstock and laminate them. After you have the puzzles laminated you can cut them out.<\/p>\n You can see one the puzzle but out below.<\/p>\n You can have kids just build the beanstalk fractions. It is a great way for kids to see the progress of a fractions as they build the puzzle.<\/p>\n You can see that the fractions start at the bottom of the puzzle and work their to the top. Just like Jack climbing the beanstalk.<\/p>\n You can have kids compare fractions puzzles. You can give them two different puzzles that are similar in sizes for some of the numbers. Then ask them to build a fraction that is the same for both beanstalks.<\/p>\n You can see below how this would work.<\/p>\n You can also have them build to a number and then compare the beanstalks. You can build a puzzle to 4\/8 and 4\/6 and compare the fractions. And it has the visual right there for them to look at.<\/p>\n You can also use the fraction word cards with the beanstalk fractions. You can see that you have the card that says how far Jack climber the beanstalk. <\/p>\n You have kids build the beanstalk to make the fraction on the puzzle. You can give them all the cards for the puzzle or just some of the cards. A great way to work on seeing the fraction and building it.<\/p>\n You can also keep the puzzle together and have kids use jack to climb the beanstalk. You can pull a card and then have jack climb up that far on the puzzle.<\/p>\n You can do this for all the puzzles.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n Jack and the Beanstalk Counting Coins<\/a> has coin matching task cards with a recording sheet for how many of each coin they used to make that number.
