This gives kinds in kindergarten a fun handwriting activity for the words and a reading activity in the same book.<\/p>\n The sight words in the book are: I, see, the.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n The Gingerbread Boy (Paul Galdone Classics)<\/a> is a fun telling of the classic story. You can read about the making of the gingerbread boy and him taking off. And then meeting the fox.<\/p>\n Gingerbread Baby<\/a> by Jan Brett is a favorite. I love that this is a small gingerbread baby and the story is all about him and is different form the original. And you can enjoy the pictures and the story. The Gingerbread Man (Easy-To-Read Folktales)<\/a> is great as a beginner reader for the folktale. Kids will enjoy reading it over and over.<\/p>\n I always get asked how I make the easy reader books. Here are the simple steps that I use to make the books. I use scissors and a stapler.<\/p>\n You start by lining up the pages and cutting down the middle of the book. You want to make sure you hold the pages steady while you cut.<\/p>\n You alternate the pages of the book. The odd pages are on the top and the even pages on the bottom. You have even and then odd until all the pages are sorted.<\/p>\n You can see the order of the pages after we sorted them.<\/p>\n After you make sure all the pages of the book are lined up, staple the book on the left side. Then your easy reader book is ready to be used.<\/p>\n Now you are ready to use your Gingerbread Man easy reader book and work on learning gingerbread man words.<\/p>\n You can use the Gingerbread Man easy reader book after reading a version of The Gingerbread Man<\/a>.<\/p>\n You can also use the book with kids as you read the book so they see the different parts of the story.<\/p>\n After you have the book make you can use it in tracing center. You can give kids a pencil to trace the words. If they struggle to hold a pencil then give them a pencil<\/a> with a pencil grip<\/a> to help.<\/p>\n You can color the picture and trace the word that matches the picture. This is a great way to help with spelling words and seeing the picture of the word on the page. The word is also in the sentence below. <\/p>\n Starting with tracing the words and working on the pictures in the book is a great way to start using this Gingerbread easy reader book.<\/p>\n You could also trace once with pencil and a second time trace the words with a crayon or marker.<\/p>\n Another activity that you can do with the book is underline the word in the sentence. This helps them see the word as they are reading on each page. You can have them point to the words as they read the words as well.<\/p>\n A simple way to have them find the word mixed in with other words.<\/p>\n You can also work on the sight words in the book.
