My girls love sidewalk chalk! The first sign of good weather they are asking if we can go outside and do sidewalk chalk. I love to let them do it! I saw this post of Mom to 2 Posh Lil Divas last year about Sight Word Hopscotch<\/a>. I did it last year and was great for Rose. But Amelia felt left out because she did not know the words. She learned a few words doing it which was great.<\/p>\n

This year I did something different. We have limited sidewalk to use so I thought for a long while how to make this more multiple level learning. My girls are 3, 5, and 7. So each has a very different area of learning. I put easy sight words, some CVC, more sight words, CVCC and finished with sight words again.<\/p>\n

The girls each took a turn just hoping and looking at the words on the squares.<\/p>\n

Then came the learning part for each of them.<\/p>\n

For Mary I had her say what the letter the word started with. She loved this! It was suddenly something she could do and she did not get upset because she was doing something fun. (sorry no pictures of her)<\/p>\n

For Amelia she got to say all the words. Some were more tricky because she has not learning them. She would stop and sound out each word. She loved it! She learned some new sight words and some CVCC words as well.<\/p>\n

With Rose I had her say a sentence with the easier sight words and CVC. She said higher level sight words, and the CVCC she had to say a rhyming word for it.<\/p>\n

Each of them got a great learning lesson and had lots of fun while making use of the limited space.<\/p>\n
