It has great pictures and is a Caldecott Honor Book. This one brings the tale to life in amazing ways.<\/p>\n I always get asked how I make the easy reader books. Here are the simple steps that I use to make the books. I use scissors and a stapler.<\/p>\n You start by lining up the pages and cutting down the middle of the book. You want to make sure you hold the pages steady while you cut.<\/p>\n You can use paper binders clips<\/a> to help hold the paper.<\/p>\n You alternate the pages of the book. The odd pages are on the top and the even pages on the bottom. You have even and then odd until all the pages are sorted.<\/p>\n You can see the page numbers on the top left side of the book pages.<\/p>\n After you make sure all the pages of the book are lined up, staple the book on the left side. There is a line on each page to help show the area to staple. Then your easy reader book is ready to be used.<\/p>\n You are now ready to use the Ugly Duckling Easy Reader Book!<\/p>\n You are going to see a few ways that we used these easy reader books with tracing. They are super fun for kids.<\/p>\n You can read kids the story of the The Ugly Duckling<\/a>. Then you can have them use the book to color the pictures and talk about the characters in the book.<\/p>\n You can give them the book with a pencil to trace the words. You could also give them a pencil with pencil grip if they need it.<\/p>\n This makes a great handwriting center idea for kids.<\/p>\n After you have pictures colored you can work on tracing the words on each page. This is a great handwriting tool and vocab tool at the same time.<\/p>\n Kids will enjoy working on handwriting with their own book.<\/p>\n You can also have kids find the word they are working on the sentence. You can see that we have traced the word swan and then underlined the word in the sentence.<\/p>\n You can also work on the sight words in the book.
