Hands-On Ocean Themed Skip Counting by 10 Puzzles

Skip counting is one type of math that leads to learning other math skills. Puzzles are a great way to work on skip counting. I love how puzzles can learning hands-on.

We have some great Ocean themed skip counting by 10s puzzles. Each puzzle is a great way for Kindergarten and first-grade kids to work on their skip counting.

These Ocean Skip Counting Puzzles is a part of the 5 Days of Ocean Printables.

This is the third set of skip counting puzzles. We enjoyed the winter and space ones a lot.

We love using puzzles in learning. They are easy to use for building words and now for skip counting. My youngest just loves learning with puzzles for her skip counting.

When you have a themed set, the puzzles are meant to be fun! Just by changing the theme it can make a difference for a child. We love the ocean theme, so I mad this another themed set of puzzles.

You can use all the puzzles at the same time or mix them up. That is what makes puzzles fun!

How to Prepare the Puzzles

I laminate each of the puzzles and then cut them up. There are ten pieces in each puzzle. There is also a blank puzzle page that you can use as a place to build your puzzles. I put some putty on my laminated blank to help the puzzles pieces stay in place, while building the puzzle.

I also have close by the skip counting by 10 bookmarks. These are only available at my stores. They go from 10 to 480. You can flip through the bookmarks and see the numbers go up by 10.

How to Use the Ocean Skip Counting by 10 Puzzles

The first time through we just might see how much of the numbers they can do on their own. I have the skip counting bookmarks close by if they need extra help. They press the puzzles onto the blank puzzle to keep them in place. After they finish the puzzle, they read the numbers on the bottom. You can use the bookmarks to see if they did it correctly.

One fun way I set up the puzzles is to put it on the blank board in a mixed up order and have them fix it. This can be a challenge or can just be fun. I love to set up the puzzles this way. Or have my girls mix it up for someone else to do.
