Shapes are something kids work on for a long time. They learn their shapes different ways: the names, types, etc. I’m always looking for some fun way to work on them. We have loved the shape packs and sorting was always one fun activity we have done.
Hands-on activities are always fun to have in learning centers.
These Shape Sorting with Ocean Fish is a part of the 5 Days of Ocean Printables.
This set works on four different shapes: circle, square, triangle, and rectangle. I wanted something simple for those that have been asking for more shape activities.
It is easy to set up and use. There are 6 fish to sort to each shape name. I recommend lamianting the cards and mats to make sure they last longer.
You can see the four different mats to sort the fish too. Each mat has the shape name on it. This is great for late PreK and kindergarten age kids. Or maybe one who needs reviews of the shapes.
There are 24 different shape cards to sort to the mats. There are six fish for each ocean word mat.
She sorts the fish to the ocean shape mat it belongs to. We say the shapes as she sorts the fish. I love simple hands-on activities like this.
After we do the sorting we mix up all the cards and match a shape matching game out of the fish. This is an easy way to work on shapes because the same fish have all the shapes on them.
