Penguin Water Bead Sensory Bin

In our study of penguins we put together a simple Penguin water bead sensory bin. This was a great way to explore them in an 3d environment. My girls love using the water beads in sensory bins. They give a good sensory experience while exploring the different between the penguins on the ice and those in the water.

We have been reading over the book Penguins! by Gail Gibbons. It has a lot of facts and information about penguins. There are many different types of penguins in the world and they live all over. We put all different types of penguins in the sensory bin.

What you need for this activity: blue water beads, Emperor Penguin,
, Rockhopper Penguin, Humboldt Penguin, Penguins TOOB, and white styrofoam

We looked at the penguins and talked about the different types that we had in the bin. There were several different ones. It was fun to see the differences in the penguins. They jumped right in to the bin and started to have fun.

They have land and sea to explore with the penguins. This gives works out well with the book as well. You could show how they were in the seas and on land.

We talked about how the Emperor Penguins carried the eggs on their feet. They made sure the Emperor Penguin got an egg.
