Easter Egg Cookie Cutter Painting

Easter is coming up really fast this year and this is also an easy Easter project that multiple ages of kids can do together.

One of my girls favorite painting projects has become the cookie cutters! This is an easy and open ended project for them to do. This can make this any way they want. This new one was tons of fun to watch my youngest do. In fact, she asked to do this. She had her own idea of what should and should not be done while she was painting. All of this painting was done by her with no direction from me at all.

One of my favorite parts about this painting project is that they work on fine motor and creative without really knowing it. I am always needing to find a way for my oldest to get more fine motor activities in without her knowing it. She does not like me taking pictures of her for the blog much anymore but she will do the projects. The cookie cutter painting is one of her favorites to do and I don’t have to even bribe her to do them.

We read the book The Easter Egg before we started the project. We love this book by Jan Brett. She has so many great books and it is a favorite to read around our house.

What you need for this project: egg cookie cutter, watercolors, and paper.

If you have not seen this project before it is tons of fun and really loads of fun. They hold the cookie cutter with one hand. They try and keep the cookie cutter in place as much as they can while using the other hand to fill in the cookie cutter with paint with the paint brush.

As they get other they get more creative as to how they fill up the area of the cookie cutter but this allows them to be creative while keeping a certain shape and everyone has fun.

One fun part about using watercolors is that they can dry pretty quick as you go about this project and the eggs can be over laped as the project goes. My youngest is just learning this idea and loves it.

This is just a simple and easy painting project that you can do quick and easy to for Easter. After you are done you can hang the painting up or you could cut out the eggs and add them to another project!
