Play and Explore the Sharks
A great part of sensory bins is exploring the sharks in the buttons. And just playing in the shark sensory bin is important. You have blue buttons and a mix of different sharks for kids to move around scoop and play in.
Sorting Sharks by Similar Color
You can do a fun activity where kids sort the sharks by similar colors. You can see that here are some that have more that two sharks and one that is not similar to others.
It is a great way to identify items by color.
Comparing Similar Sharks For what is Different
You can also take the comparing sharks a little further. You can take a set of sharks that have similar color and then compare what is different about them.
You might compare the nose, fins, shape, tail, and other other features they come up with. You can do this for each of the groups of sharks of just one group at a time. You could have older kids write about what is the same and different.
Finding Buttons That Are the Same
Since there are loads of different buttons in the sensory bin. You have many buttons to find that are similar. You can look at color, size, or just find buttons that are the same.

You can also challenge kids to make letters, numbers and shapes in the sensory bin. You can work on one that have straight lines or see how creative they can be with curved lines and the sharks.
