What is a Vowel Team?

Vowel teams are two vowels that work to make one sound.

These are words like rain, mail, fruit, and seed.

The common vowel teams are: ai, ay, ea, ee, ei, oa, oe, ue, and ui.

Now, these are some of the most common vowel teams that work together to make one sound.

The sound that vowel teams words make is a long vowel sound. You will often teach the sounds that are similar at the same time.

As I said before these are normally taught in second grade or later because of how complicated they are. And there is no wrong or right way to teach them.
