Skip counting is a little bit threading yarn up and down a hole. Children have to focus on where they were and where they are going. They also need to remember what goes between the up and the down motions. This spider themed skip counting worksheet set will give your kids the opportunity to work on those skills.

Putting the Activity together

You will need to decide if you want to print out the skip counting worksheet set in color or black and white. When you print in color the spider will the gray and the circle will be blue.

Next, you will cut out each of the circles and glue them onto paper plates. You can glue them to the front or back on the plates. If you want them to sit in your children’s laps as they work, gluing them to the front of the plates would probably work out best.

Then you will use a whole punch to place a hole between each of the numbers and the edge of the plate.

Finally, you will need to tie the end piece of yarn about a foot and half long around the circle beside the starting number. On the 2’s plate, you would tie it around the number 2.

Your children will start with the lowest number on each plate. They will draw the yarn across the plate and put it in the hole beside the next number. If you are working on 2’s, it would be 4. They will then push the yarn up the next number after 4 when skip counting by 2’s. Yes, that would be the 6. Children will continue to weave the yarn up and down the numbers until they get to 20.

When they have completed the web, they can unthread it if you like and skip count backward.
