Fun Hands-On Free Pumpkin CVC Rhyming Clip Card Printables
Rhyming is one of those learning to read skills we are always working on. I know that we have been doing tons of reviews of CVC, CVCC and CVCe words the last little while.
I thought it would be fun to change up the review with some Pumpkin CVC Word Family Rhyming Clip Cards!

Pumpkins are such a great theme for fall. They work for general fall and also with Halloween. They are tons of fun to use with learning. Plus, this works so nicely with the other pumpkin printables and CVC printables on the site.
What are CVC words?
CVC words are words that have a consonant vowel consonant pattern. They have easy to sound out consonants with a short vowel sound in the middle. They don’t have any tricky blends or digraphs for kids to work around.
These are simple words that early readers can use to help them sound out and decode words.
They have short vowel sounds that make sounding out words easy.
You are going to find words like cat. Kids can sound out the letters C A & T. And then blend the sounds together to make the word.

The pumpkin CVC rhyming clip cards has a picture of a CVC word on the pumpkin and CVC words below for kids to clip the matching rhyming word.
There are four clip cards cards per page. This makes them easy to print and cut.
I love clip cards because you can use different items to clip them. They are a sneaky way to work in some fine motor skills.

Ways to Use the Pumpkin CVC Rhyming Clip Card Printable
I will show you a few ways we have use the pumpkin CVC rhyming clip cards.
Preparing the Pumpkin CVC Rhyming Clip Card Printable
I laminated our cards and cut them out. I lay out the cards with something to use for the clipping part. I often ask what they wanted to use for the clipping part. This time we use clothes pins. You can see below how I set up the cards.
Clipping the Rhyming CVC wrods
We have tons of fun going through the cards and clipping the cards that rhyme. First, we said what the picture was. Then she read the words below and pointed out which word matched. We also talked about other words that might rhyme as well.
You can always pull out the CVC Wall Cards or CVC Bookmarks to help.
Write the Rhyming CVC words
After you have done some work on the rhyming you can always pull out some paper and write some of the rhyming words that they clipped on the cards. It is a good way to work on sounding out the picture and getting the correct beginning sounds. We used the pumping writing paper.
