Reading is always important with kids. I love all the concepts that you can introduce with a book. I have been looking at number books for a while with my girls and here are some of our favorites. I’m always looking for books that count higher than 10 or have something fun with the numbers.
These books would work perfectly with the Romping & Roaring Number Packs that will be coming out soon. It gives you something to read and count with as the packs come out. It is fun to combine two things together.
Each of the books has a different approach to teaching kids counting and I like that. There are several of these books we read all the time.
123 versus ABC is a fun book about learning the ABCs and counting to 26. This is so much fun to see the numbers climb up as the letters come each time. This can be a silly fun learning to read book.
Chicka Chicka 1, 2, 3 (Chicka Chicka Book, A) is a great story that is similar to the ABC version. You count up to twenty and then by 10 to 100! It is loads of fun to read over and over.
1 to 20, Animals Aplenty is lots of fun with animals and rhyming! You count cats wearing hats and so much more! This is a book that goes up to 20.
Have You Seen My Dragon? is lots of fun. On each page you find the dragon and count a certain number of items on the page. We have tons of fun reading this book.
20 Hungry Piggies: A Number Book (Millbrook Picture Books) is a twist on the story of the 3 little pigs and their family. Count up all the pigs in the family and they are all hungry. The wolf is hungry and wants to eat all the pigs. You can look for the numbers are each page. You never know what numbers you will find. Plus it is fun to read to kids!
The Icky Bug Counting Book is a book we have hard around for forever. We got it as a board book way back when my oldest was around 2. You get to learn about a bug for each number and then search and find all the bugs. This is great for those that like bugs.
1-2-3 Peas is a cute book that counts what peas are doing an activity. It is fun to see the interactions and the repeating words. We like to count the peas on each page as we read the book.
