What is a number bond?
Number bonds are the pairs of numbers that are added to make another number. They help students visualize and solve addition and subtraction problems easily.
You would see a number bond with the numbers 2, 6, 8 and that is that 2 and 6 will add up to 8. So 2 + 6 = 8 and 6 + 2 = 8.

Ways to Use the Number Bond Addition Flashcard Printable
You are going to see a few ways to use these addition flashcards with kids.
Preparing the Number Bond Addition Flashcards
You can print the cards on white cardstock and use them. But not all kids like white and color cardstock is a great way to change to colors to match the seasons.
You can see we printed the number bond addition flashcards on green cardstock and laminated them. This makes it great to use in math centers over and over.
Using Unifix Cubes to Build on the Numbers on the Flashcards
You can use the cards to work on building the sum of the two numbers. You start off with a card and unifix cubes. You can do one card at at time with mixed numbers or all of the same number.
You give them two colors of unfix cubes to use.
You can see how we used the two sets of unifix cube colors to build to the number ten. It is a great visual to use with kids.
Write in the Bond on the Number Bond Addition Flashcards
If yu have the cards laminated, you can use the set with the mission number to write in the number bond on the card. This makes great practice for learning addition. You can use these after you have worked on addition for a while.
