We have just loved making crafts with model magic. It is a fun material to work with. My oldest really wanted to make something more for Thanksgiving. They love doing activities for it and wanted to do one last one before Thanksgiving.
She decided that we needed to make model magic turkeys on our table for decorations this year.
It is fun and easy idea to make. Plus loads of fine motor fun.
We read the book There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Turkey!. We love this series it is so much fun to read and see what will happen at the end.
I love pairing books and crafts together for my girls to do. And yes they are older and sometimes that means we switch it up and each of us read a page from the book. It allows them to work on reading aloud to other people and it is fun to see how different each of us make the story.

How to Make Your Model Magic Turkey
We covered the two different foam size balls with model magic. It is a great fine motor activity to press all the model magic onto the balls.
After we had the model magic on we rolled the balls on the table to it out around the ball.
We stuck the two balls together with the smaller ball on top where we wanted the head to go. We put a little extra model magic around the neck to make sure they stayed together.
We put our eyes and beak on the smaller of the foam ball. We each got to decide how the beak should look.
We made feet and put them on our turkeys. This helps the turkeys not to roll as much. They made two long orange lines and then added two smaller parts for the feet.
We pressed the feathers into the larger ball to make our turkey tail feathers. They made a line on the back of the turkey for where they feathers should go. It was fun to see the many different colors of the feathers we used.
Here is a look at our final turkeys:
